05 Jun

i am going to go to a vocational school to stbecome a surgical tech. but i am not quite sure if i will be able to handle what is done in the operating room concerning incisions, blood, and things like that. is it something people can get used to while in school and practice, or do you have to be a person who can handle these types of situations (comes natural)? thanks.

If i study pharmacy in peru will i be able to work in the usa?

24 May

Here in peru i want to study a year program of pre pharmacy. Here in Peru, there are a year program of pre pharmacy and three year program of pre pharmacy.. I chose a year program of pre pharmacy since i want to work as soon as possible. But, i don’t want to do a mistake… i need to know whether or not i going to work as a farmacist in the usa after studying a year in Peru. Because i want to study nurse in the usa while working as a tech pharmacist. I really want to study nurse in the usa, but i need to work to study.. So, i decided to study pre pharmacist because the language in pharmacy arent neither spanish neither english. If i won’t be able to work as a pharmacist in the usa when i arrive. I ‘d better study nothing here in peru, just polish my english.. What do u think? I wanted to study nurse, here in Peru, but someone told me that if i study nurse in Peru i won’t work as a nurse in the usa due to the language of my classes in Peru ( spanish)
when i arrive to the usa , i willbe legal because my father is a citizen.

Is this too good to be true? Computer tech school training in only 12 weeks, will I be able to find a job?

19 May

Hi, I have recieved $ 8,000 in vocational rehab school vouchers so that I may use for school, or to help assist in job retraining, since I can not go back to my last job. There are alot of things that I can use this money for, but I am having a hard time deciding what to do. I want to use the money for school, and i’m interested in computers as a choice, but I don’t know where to start.I have general knoledge about computers and know just about enough to get me in trouble, if you know what I mean!

Okay, so my lawyer set me up with this guy who basically tries to help you find training for a job, or a school that will accept my vouchers and train me for a new career. One such agency called me from 300 miles away from where I live, and said that they had recieved information from “the guy” that I needed help. The scetchy thing about this agency is that they said that they could have me schooled in 12 -16 weeks in computer tech somthing, or other, and that I would be employable and ready to go. They also said I could get this all done in the saftey of my own house, via my computer, hmm, and that they would come by at least twice a week to check on my progress. It sounds to me that these people are only interested in my school vouchers and that I will have at best a sub par knowledge at whatever they teach me, kinda like a crash course. So what do you guys think? Does this type of thing really work? what should I ask them?

I am also thinking about Laurus College for the training. I just want to be employable when i’m done with whatever I choose to do. I’m not looking to become rich, just find a good job. Thank you!

how likely is it that i will be able to continue rad tech school while pregnant?

01 May

i recently got accepted into a 2 yr rad tech program that accepts only 17 students per year. i will start this summer. i signed a pregnancy policy which included this:

The declared pregnant student may:
1. a. Continue as a student without any interruption in the regular program.
b. Continue as a student with deferral of fluoroscopy, surgery and portable rotations until pregnancy is completed. These rotations will be made-up.
c. Continue as a student with classroom participation only. All clinical rotation requirements deferred until pregnancy is completed.
d. Begin a leave of absence. The student will be readmitted to the School at a later date (i.e. – same time the following year) to continue their clinical and didactic training.
2. The student will be counseled by the Program Faculty regarding the pregnancy policy of the School.
3. The student who decides to continue clinical and didactic participation is required to abide by the following:
a. She will adhere to all radiation and standard precautions.
b. If any problem or if change in student status must be made, this should be submitted in writing, immediately.
c. She will wear two personnel radiation monitoring devices, one placed over the collar and one over the embryo-fetus, for monitoring. Readings will be monitored closely by the Radiation Safety Officer.
d. If at any time, a pregnant student feels she is working in an unsafe area or under conditions she feels are detrimental to herself or to the embryo-fetus, she should stop and report to the Program Director or Departmental Supervisor.
4. A vacancy will be held for a student for a maximum of six months following completion of pregnancy. After that time she will be considered withdrawn from the program.
5. The student will realize upon return that all requirements for graduation must be completed. The requirements include the clinical rotations, required courses, clinical competencies for the two-year period. NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE LENGTH OF THE TRAINING PERIOD. A student must complete twenty-four months of full-time student status. A certificate will not be issued until all requirements have been successfully met.

my husband and i are planning to get pregnant soon, and it actually turns out that if i get pregnant before april, the baby will be due during christmas break from school, which is about 3 -4 wks.

i’m just worried that will not hold-true to their policy and let me continue full-time as normal. alot of schools around here “do what’s best for the student as well as the class”. but if i signed this policy i’m okay, right?

Are the private schools to become a Ultrasound tech any good? Were you able to get a job? Did it pay well?Cali

20 Mar

It seems that the private schools that offer Ultrasound tech degree’s are faster than the 2year programs. What are the benefits to attending a private school and more importantly do hospitals/doctors hire out of them? We are in So Cal.
