I’m starting tech school in a few mouths, and i’m majoring in technology. Can i work for a company or have my own? Can i go to school there for two years, then a regular college for another two years and start my job?
Trouble deciding between a community college or vocational school?

I’m interested in being a Medical Assistant. I’m frustrated with the community college because they only offer an associates degree- not necessary for working as a CMA. I found a for-profit vocational school that offers a diploma in the course.
CMAs don’t make much money at all. I feel that taking a degree program would waste time. There may be a waiting list for the community college’s program. However the community college has 100% job placement. I became a CNA through the community college, so I’m familiar with it.

My concerns with the vocational school are that it will be expensive. (The cost is NOT listed on their site) Also that training ill not be as good. However I know it will be quicker.

In India for engineering, there are many courses offered at the under graduate level. So what i want to know is what is the difference in terms of subjects taught and material covered in these two B.Tech courses, as i am aspiring to be an engineer and am interested in programming? So what would be the best option for a person like me who is good at programming?

I am currently taking my pre-reqs for nursing, and these are some of the medical related classes offered at my campus. Im thinking about taking one so I can get a job while I attend school. they say there are only 5 vet tech schools in texas that are accredited by the AVMA. The school i’m looking at going to is not acredited by the AVMA and i want to know if it is a big deal that it is not

Has anyone had a gap between their basic training and tech school training?

I joined the Air National Guard this past June. I have already been through MEPS, went through security clearance, and have been attending monthly drills.
I currently set up a date to leave for basic training. I will be leaving in March of 2010. Problem is, the tech school I need to go to, Sheppard, is already filled for most of the year! My local base can’t even believe it!
So, they put me on some type of list where if an opening does come up, I will be able to go to Sheppard right after Basic.
If no opening comes up, I will have to come home after basic training. Wait many months, and then leave again for Sheppard and attend school for 5 months (Aerospace Ground Equipment).
I also won’t be able to start my job until I complete the tech training. So if I were to come home right after Basic, I will still have to attend these Student Flight programs….. even though I would have already completed basic! Therefore, not even doing anything with the job I chose!
Has this happened to anyone? Your thoughts? My recruiter said he went through this, and did not like the experience of coming home, getting back to the civilian ways of life again, and then having to go back for training.
